Dear experts!I have a lot of irregular elbows in my pipe model with angles of 18°, 25°, 37°, etc. Can I define elbows with different angles in pipenet and how do I calculate the resistance of these elbows? |

Hello gearman! 🙂Yes, you can model elbows with different angles in PIPENET. If the elbows are not available in PIPENET, you can model them by specifying the equivalent length. You need to use an equipment item for that. However, it depends on the module of PIPENET you use. If you do not know the equivalent length, you can deduce it from the modelling equations that are given in the manuals of PIPENET. -------------------------- |

Dear expert!Thank you very much for your reply! How to convert the elbow into a straight pipe length according to the formula? Can you explain it in detail? It is best to give an example. Your sincerely gearman! |

It depends on the conditions (pressure, flow rate) at the elbow and the dimensions and type of the pipes that are connected to the elbow. If you know the conditions, you can model a 1-meter pipe in PIPENET. Then input the specifications (pressure, flow rate) that you know. The equivalent length can be calculated as follows: \(\mbox{equivalent length} = \frac{\mbox{pressure drop through the elbow}}{\mbox{pressure drop through the 1-meter pipe}}\) -------------------------- |
